With the exception of Las Vegas, often having a “theme” for a hotel is generally considered a bad idea. They tire out quickly, and are usually quite hokey, with overly obvious repetition of pattern and concept.
But this hotel, the Liberty Hotel in Boston, actually has its “jail” theme based in history and reality, which makes it actually work. The hotel at one point was an actual jail!
I would imagine it would feel quite realistic sitting in the lobby, seeing the corridors lining the atrium space where the former cell were once located.
The lobby bar and restaurant, cleverly named Clink, features metal cell doors as screen dividers.

The rooms look quite comfortable. Some have fantastic arched windows which overlook the downtown core.

The website is also great…very animated with good graphics and time lapse effects. Check it out at http://www.libertyhotel.com/
The Liberty was also named best hotel design of the year from The Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design last Monday.
