Kimpton Hotels recently opened their first hotel in Philadelphia, named the Hotel Palomar. It is a LEED certified property, with 230 rooms, in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. The interiors are interesting because they play off Philadelphia’s rich history by adding quirky touches of Americana through use of design elements such as the brightly colored presidential busts in the lobby, the pop art versions of presidential portaits, and traditionally inspired tufted and turned furniture with modern fabrics and bold accent colours.I love the use of the aerial photograph of an interesction and surrounding farm fields as art in the lobby. I've actually used this technique myself at a hotel in Calgary.
