While President Elect Obama is awaiting to move into the White House in a couple of weeks upon his innauguration, his temporary home will be the Hay-Adams Hotel. The hotel was originally designed by architect Mirhan Mesrobian in 1927 as a "hotel residence". Architectural features included Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders, walnut wainscoting and intricate ceiling treatments with Tudor, Elizabethan and Italian motifs.

The Hay-Adams Hotel is conveniently located across from the White House, where the Obama family can gaze across Lafayette Square at their new home.
